High School Advisor
Kevin Adams

Mr. Adams has had a dynamic and diverse journey, from his upbringing in Saratoga Springs to his extensive teaching career in Taiwan. His educational path, including studying history at SUNY Oneonta and Charles University, set the stage for his impactful teaching roles. Over the past eleven years, he's taught a range of subjects, with a focus on both English Language Arts and Social Studies, and has shown leadership as the current Head of Social Studies at Asia America International Academy.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Adams has a strong passion for endurance sports, which has been a lifelong interest. His participation in various races like marathons and triathlons is fueled by his high school and college experiences in American football and lacrosse. Additionally, his love for travel is reflected in his bikepacking adventures, including an impressive 7-day solo ride from Edinburgh to London. With ambitious future goals such as completing an Ironman Triathlon and hiking to Everest Base Camp, Mr. Adams embodies a deep commitment to physical health and exploration.
As the fourth annual NTMUN conference approaches, Mr. Adams and the team are thrilled to welcome all students to the Asia American International School for an exciting weekend of collaboration, debate, and learning. The event offers a unique opportunity for students to engage with global issues, develop critical thinking skills, and build lasting friendships. The team is excited to host such a dynamic group of young leaders and looks forward to witnessing the discussions, solutions, and teamwork that will unfold throughout the weekend. Middle School Advisor
Sarah Thomassen

Ms. Thomassen is originally from the United States and has lived in Taiwan since 2015. She is a dedicated educator who holds a Bachelor’s degree from Elmira College, where she studied Adolescent Social Studies Education and History. Her academic journey continued as she pursued a Master of Science in Literacy Education, further enhancing her ability to foster a love for learning in her students.

With ten years of teaching experience under her belt, Ms. Thomassen has honed her skills and developed a deep understanding of effective pedagogical practices. She currently teaches A.P. United States History, World Geography, and Medieval History.

Outside of the classroom, Ms. Thomassen can be found pursuing a variety of hobbies that fuel her adventurous spirit and creative soul. Ms. Thomassen has a zest for traveling and loves to scrapbook her adventures. On the weekends, she enjoys scuba diving and powerlifting. Ms. Thomassen also enjoys watching Disney+ with her cat, Elphaba.
As the middle school MUN advisor at AAIA, Ms. Thomassen would like to welcome students to the fourth annual NTMUN conference. She is pleased to support and guide the delegates throughout this year's Model United Nations conference. Model United Nations plays a crucial role in developing the skills of diplomacy, negotiation, and public speaking among participants. It fosters global awareness and encourages a deeper understanding of international issues by simulating real-world United Nations proceedings. Through this experience, students not only enhance their critical thinking but also learn the value of collaboration and problem-solving in addressing global challenges. Enjoy NTMUN!
